Background
The MTN Foundation launched its Scholarships Program in 2010 as an annual initiative to acknowledge and financially support high-achieving students enrolled in Nigerian public tertiary institutions.
Currently, the program offers two distinct scholarship categories:
- Science and Technology Scholarship: This scholarship is open to eligible students at the 300-level pursuing Science & Technology-related degree programs.
- Scholarship for Blind Students: This scholarship supports eligible blind students enrolled in 200 and 300-level courses across various disciplines.
Successful applicants in both categories are awarded a scholarship valued at N300,000.00 per academic year. This financial support continues annually until the student’s graduation, contingent upon the maintenance of the required academic performance standards
Eligibility Requirements for The MTN Foundation Scholarships
For Science & Technology Scholarships:
- Students who have completed their second semester 200-level examinations and are progressing to 300 level or students currently in their 300 level.
- Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0/4 or 3.5/5 (Second Class Upper Credit) for Public Universities and Colleges of Education.
- Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 3.0 (Upper Credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) Program and must have secured admission into the Higher National Diploma (HND) Program.
For MTN Scholarship for Blind Students (SBS):
- Blind students currently in the Universities, Colleges of Education, or Public Polytechnics.
- Must be in their 200 or 300 level of study.
- Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5. for Universities and Colleges of Education.
- Minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.0 from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) Program and must have secured admission into the Higher National Diploma (HND) Program.
