About The Florence Bamidele Scholarship for Young Women
The Florence Bamidele Makanjuola Scholarship for Young Women (FBMSYW) is an initiative of the Opekete Foundation. It was created in memory of its founder, late Mrs Florence Bamidele Makanjuola (FBM) and is available for young women in Secondary and Tertiary institutions intending to or currently enrolled in the fields of Nursing and Teaching [in STEM]
Eligibility Criteria
- Be a Female Nigerian student
- Pass an aptitude/behavioural test
- Submit a motivational essay describing why they should receive the scholarship and highlighting the extenuating circumstances that make them indigent students (Unable to afford tuition)
- Senior Secondary School
Minimum of 5 As or Bs in English, Mathematics and any other 3 major subjects in Junior WAEC.
Intending and/or willing to study teaching (STEM) or Nursing at the University
Applicants must be attending or intending to attend a public or federal government owned Senior Secondary School (for secondary school applicants)
Secondary School awardees must maintain an average of 65% across all subjects

Eligible to apply for university with a minimum of 5 As or Bs in English, Mathematics and any other 3 major subjects and at in WAEC / NECO viz
Nursing: English, Mathematics, Biology, Physics and Chemistry
Teaching: English, Mathematics and any 3 other STEM-related subjects
Meet the required cut-off score in JAMB for the course and school applied to.
Minimum GPA of 3.5 for those requesting extenuating funding to complete University
O’level result should not be at more than one sitting
University Awardees will be expected to maintain a minimum of 3.5 out of 5 CGPA grade per semester to remain on the program
