Responsibilities of the Utility Intern at Unilever
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on utility systems, including HVAC, plumbing, boilers, compressor and mechanical and electrical systems. Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks, including inspections, repairs, and component replacements, to maintain equipment in optimal condition.
- Inspection and Troubleshooting: Regularly inspect utility systems to identify and troubleshoot issues, ensuring they operate within specified parameters.
- Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.
- Respond to utility system emergencies and perform necessary repairs to restore service.
- Operate assigned equipment in accordance with UL established SOP to desired result.
- Implement CLIT as recommended by the Checklist and Tag abnormalities

- Perform initial setup, configuration, and calibration of equipment to meet specific production or operational requirements.
- Continuously monitor equipment and systems to identify and address any deviations, malfunctions, or technical issues. Troubleshoot and resolve problems as they arise.
- Ensure that products or processes meet quality standards and specifications. Conduct quality checks and make adjustments as necessary.
- Strictly adhere to safety protocols, guidelines, and regulations. Ensure a safe working environment for oneself and colleagues.
- Collect and record data related to equipment operation, maintenance, and performance. Generate reports and maintain records as required.
- Collaborate with technical teams, engineers, and supervisors to optimize equipment performance, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement process improvements.
- Stay updated on the latest technical knowledge and undergo training to enhance skills and adapt to new technologies.
Role Requirements for the Utility Intern at Unilever
- OND in Engineering related fields.
- Minimum of 3 years experience in Utilities, Power plant generators and Boilers
- Must be a current Utility Technician
- Must have a proper understanding of Effluent treatment plant, compressors, generators and water treatment equipment
- Applicant must be a committed team worker with a strong sense of responsibility and good attention to detail. Effective communication skills and an agile mind are essential.
- Must be flexible within pattern of shift work to accommodate factory shutdowns, training courses etc.
