Background
The Renewable Energy Association of Nigeria (REAN) is the foremost independent, non-profit industry association founded by stakeholders in the renewable energy sector in Nigeria.
REAN is an industry association of renewable energy professionals, project developers, and practitioners that promotes the interests of the private sector in Nigeria’s renewable energy sector.
Responsibilities of the Program Finance Officer at REAN
- Prepare and manage REAN secretariat annual and project-specific budgets; ensure proper utilization of funds in strict compliance with donor requirements; & generate project financial reports.
- Monitor budget performance (by controlling expenses to align with approved budgets), underscore variances, & implement cost-saving measures where possible.
- Prepare fund-request documents/invoices to donor partners.
- Oversee grant cooperative agreements, ensure compliance, and serve as the REAN contact person with funding partners.
- Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date financial records for REAN (dues and payments); generate receipts/invoices; reminders for non-paid-up members; & update records upon renewal.
- Coordinate external audit engagements in compliance with audit standards and regulatory requirements.
- Manage time sheets and ensure prompt as well as accurate processing of staff salaries and stipends.
- Manage retirements by (collecting and processing financial supporting documents) for project payments, per-diems, and reimbursements.
- Prepare vendor contracts, monitor performance, and comply with deliverables and KPIs.
- Perform Executive Assistant tasks as assigned by the Executive Secretary for efficient secretariat operations (ex: identification of potential partners/sponsors; preparation of grant proposals; membership data analytics, visualization, & reporting).
Role Requirements for the Program Finance Officer at REAN
- Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Proven experience in financial management preferably in development, research institutes, think tanks, or non-profit sectors.
- Attention to detail and exceptional organization, analytical, and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Effective communication and strong interpersonal skills with an ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team in a hybrid work environment.
- A strong interest in, familiarity with, or adept knowledge of the renewable energy landscape in Nigeria is a plus.
