Responsibilities of the Product Designer at Optiwatt
- Lead user research efforts, encompassing both exploratory and evaluative methods, to gain deep insights into user needs and reactions to product updates.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers and engineers, on a daily basis to design and refine user experiences.
- Utilize user analytics tools, such as Posthog, to analyze user behavior and assess the effectiveness of design solutions in achieving desired outcomes.
- Conduct user surveys with both existing and potential customers to inform feature development, generate new ideas, and measure product performance.
- Work alongside a team of experienced senior engineers specializing in consumer, energy, and smart device applications.
- Partner with product managers to evaluate the business impact of user experience changes implemented in recent product releases.
- Experiment with innovative and unconventional ideas, iterating rapidly to challenge existing norms and maximize product value across the application.
- Serve as the user advocate in direct collaboration with the marketing team, ensuring clear and intuitive communication of product features to the public.
Role Requirements for the Product Designer at Optiwatt
- Possesses 1-2 years of experience in designing consumer mobile applications.
- Demonstrates a strong user-centric approach, prioritizing user needs and actively building user empathy. (Bonus for personal experience as a target user).
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, remote, early-stage startup environment.
- Exhibits proactive design leadership, consistently driving the delivery of user-focused designs.
- Thrives in independent work, embracing a rapid and resourceful approach, with a proven track record of launching 1-2 products or features from inception.
- Employs a data-driven design process, utilizing success metrics to evaluate design effectiveness beyond qualitative feedback.
- Displays enthusiasm for working in areas such as electric vehicles, smart home technology, the electric grid, climate technology, cost-saving solutions, and consumer-focused applications.
- Adopts a holistic design perspective, considering user journeys and experiences across all communication channels, including email, push notifications, SMS, and in-app interactions.
- Proficient in utilizing Figma for feature concept design and collaborative iteration with team members.
