Responsibilities of the Account Manager at IFF
- Understand the specific market and the customer’s business environment, including their activities, strategies, brands, markets, and consumers, through various information sources.
- Cultivate strong, multi-level relationships across different functions within key customer organizations, engaging with important decision-makers and influencers.
- Participate in or lead commercial negotiations covering aspects like product listings, annual pricing, payment terms, rebates, cost-saving agreements, and supply contracts.
- Maximize benefits for IFF while providing optimal solutions for the customer, focusing on improving gross profit, optimizing product portfolios, and reducing complexity.
- Ensure that customer supply chain needs, processes, and key performance indicators are clearly communicated to IFF Operations to meet customer expectations.
- Understand and track customer regulatory requirements and changes, updating relevant data for the Global Regulatory Affairs (GRA) team and inputting information into the project management system.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the customer on all matters.
- Embody IFF’s cultural principles and consistently demonstrate their core values.
- Manage and/or mentor junior team members or peers, as well as onboard and train new team members.
- Influence stakeholders to achieve alignment on common objectives.
- Lead projects effectively through clear communication and collaboration with key internal (e.g., CI, Marketing, Creative Teams, Formulation) and external stakeholders.
- Ensure individual objectives are in line with business goals and that personal development plans are in place.
- Proactively seek and provide feedback to foster high-performing teams.
- Demonstrate leadership courage by challenging established norms and holding oneself and others accountable for ethical conduct.
Role Requirements for the Account Manager at IFF
- Requires approximately 3 to 5 years of experience in fields such as sales, sales service, product development, or marketing, ideally within the fragrance, cosmetics, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG), flavors, chemical, or ingredients industries.
- Must have a strong history of success at a similar job level and a strong desire to achieve commercial goals.
- Must be customer-focused with experience in managing business-to-business relationships.
- Possesses analytical skills and the ability to understand and work with financial concepts and processes, including pricing, margins, and forecasting.
- Shows a strong interest in product development, understanding consumers, and market dynamics (including Marketing, Research & Development, and Competitive Intelligence).
- Has a good understanding of fragrance and olfactive skills, or knowledge of skincare and biochemistry where relevant.
- Exhibits creative and innovative thinking abilities.
- Proficient in project management with effective collaboration and coordination skills.
- Demonstrates strong communication, presentation, storytelling, and negotiation abilities.
- Understands the principles of digital marketing and the e-commerce environment.
