Responsibilities of the Country Manager at Ebanz
- Identify and evaluate potential payment partners (PSPs, Banks, Acquirers, FX, Liquidity Providers, etc.) in Nigeria, ensuring alignment with internal teams.
- Utilize local market understanding to select optimal partners.
- Coordinate with internal teams to implement and manage payment solutions with Nigerian partners, addressing language and cultural nuances between the core team and the local market.
- Collaborate with the Africa Expansion Director on negotiations (MDRs, FX, promotions, campaigns) to drive merchant activation and P&L in Nigeria.
- Work with Go-To-Market teams to define target industries, key merchants, educational content, and training for frontline teams specific to Nigeria.
- Represent EBANX as a local expert at Nigerian conferences, clearly communicating the regional value proposition and roadmap.
- Contribute Nigerian market insights to studies, benchmarks, analyses, and thought leadership.
- Serve as a local payments consultant for Nigeria, analyzing merchant checkout processes and suggesting optimizations relevant to Nigerian consumers.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key players in the Nigerian payments landscape, including regulators, financial institutions, and industry groups
Role Requirements for the Country Manager at Ebanz
- Experience in fintech, payments, or financial services, ideally with cross-border payment exposure.
- Proven experience adapting global solutions for the Nigerian market while working with international companies.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of explaining intricate payment concepts to various audiences.
- Strong experience in managing relationships with stakeholders, especially financial institutions, payment partners, and regulatory bodies.
- In-depth understanding of Nigeria’s payment infrastructure, including bank transfers, card schemes, mobile money (including USSD), and new payment technologies.
- Experience interacting with Nigerian regulatory bodies like the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and knowledge of relevant financial regulations.
- Demonstrated success in establishing and managing strategic partnerships within Nigeria’s financial services sector.
- Comprehensive knowledge of forex regulations and cross-border payment processes in Nigeria.
- Experience managing relationships with merchants in relevant sectors like e-commerce, streaming, SaaS, or online services.
