Responsibilities of the Design Engineer at StackBlitz
- Take ownership of refining front-end designs, enhancing the user interface and user experience across our website and products.
- Develop and improve our front-end architecture to ensure maintainability, scalability, and optimal performance across the entire platform.
- Promote technical excellence by identifying and reducing technical debt, establishing best practices, and implementing architectural enhancements.
- Implement design updates and refine interactions to guarantee a smooth user experience.
- Work closely with Product, Design, Engineering, and Marketing teams to transform ideas into visually appealing and high-performing interfaces.
- Architect and expand our design system and component library to ensure consistency across all user interactions.
- Lead the development of reusable React components and establish patterns that boost developer efficiency and code maintainability.
- Implement and optimize intricate UI interactions, prioritizing performance, accessibility, usability, and overall platform intuitiveness for both technical and non-technical users.
- Create rapid prototypes and iterate on designs based on feedback and data analysis.
- Advocate for modern front-end development practices, mentor team members, and contribute to key technical decisions.
Key Qualifications for the Design Engineer at StackBlitz
- Possesses 5 or more years of experience in front-end development, design engineering, or a combined role.
- Demonstrates proficiency in React, TypeScript, and contemporary front-end architectural patterns.
- Has a strong base in HTML, CSS (Tailwind), and techniques for optimizing front-end performance.
- Experience leading architectural projects and promoting technical excellence in complex web applications.
- Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD, coupled with a passion for visual refinement.
- Experience in building and maintaining design systems and component libraries.
- Exhibits strong user experience awareness, with the ability to harmonize aesthetics and functionality.
- Pays close attention to detail, including spacing, typography, animations, and micro-interactions.
- Experienced in working within a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment.
- Bonus: Experience with WebAssembly, Web Workers, Web Components, Remix, or developer tooling is advantageous.
