Responsibilities of the Communication Officer at Her_initiative
- Develop and implement a comprehensive communication strategy that aligns with HER_Initiative’s goals and feminist principles, promoting the organization’s initiatives and campaigns.
- Identify key messages and themes that reflect the voices and experiences of the communities we serve, ensuring that communications are inclusive and culturally sensitive.
- Create compelling written and visual content (articles, blog posts, infographics, videos, and graphics) that tell the stories of marginalized individuals and advocate for SRHR issues, while adhering to HER_Initiative’s writing formats and guidelines.
- Ensure all content aligns with HER_Initiative’s brand colors and visual identity, maintaining consistency across all channels.
- Manage HER_Initiative’s social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn) by regularly posting engaging content, responding to comments, and fostering community interaction.
- Analyze social media metrics and insights to assess engagement and adjust strategies to improve visibility and outreach.
- Oversee the maintenance and updating of HER_Initiative’s website, ensuring content is current, accessible, and reflective of our feminist values and priorities.
- Optimize website content for search engines (SEO), improving outreach and ensuring users find relevant and helpful information about our programs and initiatives.
- Create visually appealing materials that adhere to the organization’s branding guidelines, ensuring cohesive visual identity across all communication channels.
- Utilize design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) to produce promotional materials, reports, and social media graphics that engage and inspire stakeholders.
- Support advocacy efforts by producing communication materials that promote campaigns, papers, and events aligned with HER_Initiative’s mission.
- Collaborate with the program team to ensure that messaging remains consistent and impactful across all platforms and outreach efforts.
Required Experience and Skills for the Communication Officer role at Her_initiative
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Feminist Studies, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 3-5 years of experience in communications, marketing, or public relations, preferably in a non-profit or community-focused setting with an emphasis on feminist principles.
- Strong storytelling and writing skills, with a keen ability to communicate complex ideas in a clear and engaging manner.
- Proficiency in graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva) and social media management platforms.
- Familiarity with SEO best practices, website management, and analytics tools to assess engagement and impact.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and build community relationships.
