We have a whole lot of federal Universities across different states in Nigeria. These federal universities offer certificates of Undergraduate and Postgraduate courses and are funded by the federal Government.
However, Several universities are starting to raise their school fees and other dues to raise more funds as a result of the Academic Staff Union of Universities’ recently finished industrial action, which had no beneficial results.
As you may remember, during their “unending” discussions, the federal government offered ASUU several options to end the strike, including raising tuition and finding alternative ways to fund public universities across the nation. However, the union turned down the proposal. This was one of the factors that caused the government and the union’s endless talks to always result in a dead-end before the government forced the union into court, which is how we got to where we are now.
