As part of its “Science on the Ground Initiative,” the SW/Niger Delta Forest Project is introducing an annual funding program for community-based conservation projects.

Background

The SW/Niger Delta Forest Project is a non-governmental organization with a mission to provide conservation solutions that will ensure the survival of threatened species and habitats in Nigeria.

In the last ten years, the organization has established itself as one of Nigeria’s most prolific conservation organizations, currently operating in five sites, establishing protected areas and raising a vibrant force of conservation stewards wherever they go. Having led indelible conservation footprints in some of the country’s most critical ecosystems, it has recently added a marine habitat to the list of intervention sites.

What you need to know:

  • Be a fresh Nigerian graduate and

A holder of BSc, MSc, PhD in Environmental Sciences, Wildlife Management, Marine Biology, Forestry, Conservation Biology, or other relevant courses.

  • Courses of Study can include

Zoology, Forestry, Wildlife Management, Marine Biology, Environmental Sciences, and other relevant areas.

  • Preference is given to

Candidates from River State, Bayelsa State, Ondo, Edo, and Delta States. Specifically, Indigenous people from these communities in protected forests in Bayelsa State, Lower Orashi State, and marine conservation areas.

  • Grant Package Include

 

Up to N5 Million Naira in funding for three successful applicants, and two rounds of fieldwork from our team to support the successful implementation of the project of choice.
